PAOK won its first game for the Greek League, edging Kolossos H Hotels 85-73, in a game held at the PAOK Sports Arean for the 2nd day of the Stoiximan.gr Basket League.

 

PAOK, that once again played without captain Vangelis Margaritis, made a bad start, was trailing even by ten, but came back to the game very quickly, dominated it actually and got a deserving victory.

 

Kolossos was better at the beginning and was leading 2-8 at 5' while broadening the margin at 10 points (3-13). PAOK ran an 8-0 streak and had a point game (11-13). Ahonen with a three gave the chance to the guests to maintain the lead to the end of the quarter (13-16).  

 

PAOK was much better at the beginning of the second quarter, having now Tsochals organizing the team and with Chrysikopoulos and Peiners to lead the offense took control of the game. With a three by Chrysikopoulos, PAOK took the lead for the first time (21-18) and with a partial run of 22-7 got a small lead of five points (25-20) amidst the second quarter (15'). Tsochals scored another three, PAOK led for the first time with two digits (37-27), but Ahonen made another three of his own and half time closed at 37-30.

 

Tsochlas had 2/2 behind the 6.75 m. arc, PAOK was ahead 43-31 at 23', the difference was even at +14 (4531) and was completely dominating the game, despite Kolossos' effort to come back… PAOK was maintaining a 10 point lead (61-51) at the end of the third quarter.

 

The Rhodes players tried hard to come back, closed in even at 5 points (66-61), but Chrysikopoulos scored two buckets in a row and Miljenovic with a three gave PAOK once again a lead of 12 points (73-61) at 36'. It was at that point when the winner was irrevocably decided, since PAOK did not lose the two digit lead till the end of the game and got a fair victory.
